Instructional DVDs for Gunsmiths by Steve Acker
Steve Acker is a gunsmith and machinist who writes "The Gunsmith Machinist" column for Machinist's Workshop (formerly Projects in Metal) magazine, as well as other machining articles for The Home Shop Machinist magazine. His work as a gunsmith is superb--meticulous in detail. Steve has produced five excellent instructional DVDs that will assure you of greater accuracy.
Steve demonstrates for you his shop techniques for both basic and advanced rifle work using the Remington 700 bolt action rifle. He shows you how to correct some common rifle problems using hand tools or, for the more ambitious gunsmith, using machine tools to correct problems.
For the more advanced gunsmith, Steve demonstrates how you can build a custom hunting or bench rest barreled action. Tools, techniques, and parts are all described. You will see bench rest style action truing, recutting receiver threads in the lathe using a single point cutting tool, precision fitting of the bolt to the receiver and the barrel, match grade barrel threading and chambering and cutting match grade muzzle crowns in this step-by-step presentation.
If you've ever hoped to do more work on your own rifle, and achieve greater control over your shooting skills, these videos are the perfect first step for you. All Steve Acker's videos are only in DVD.
